Everett Butchers was founded in 1932 as Everett Bros by three brothers, Les, Jack and Keith. They were encouraged to start out on their own by their father Frank, who ran a butcher shop in Boulder.
Some 80 years later the next generation in the butchering industry has been stamping their name on the world of meats. Steve and Gavin with over 50 years of experience in gourmet butcher shops changed the way we look at meat in Kalgoorlie Boulder . Gavin did his apprenticeship under the watchful eye of Steve in Mukinbudin, where he was a recipient of the Apprentice Butcher of the Year Award, and gold medalist of the W.A. World Skills Award.
After leaving the shop in Mukinbudin, Gavin headed to the hustle and bustle of Perth where he was employed at Mondo Butchers, shop of the famous Vince Gareffa. Learning the fine art of meat wholesale and Italian style butchering set him up for the challenge of running Everett Butchers, where they supply to hotels and restaurants, as well as catering for the public with many fine cuts of meat .
Steve started his apprenticeship for Tip Top Meats in 1980. Working in some of W.A’s top butcher shops he learned many skills, setting him up for the purchase and 8 year ownership of Mukinbudin Butchers, which refined the talent he already displayed. Moving to Kalgoorlie when the Boulder Road store became available, the store underwent a complete re-fit which changed the way the historical Everett’s shop serviced the community. Refusing to stop there, Steve saw the opportunity to service more of the community and decided to move location to the Kalgoorlie Central shopping Centre.
Shop 14 was a lager premises that the Boulder Road Store and allowed us to increase our range to offer to the busy shoppers of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Another 8 years passed and the next big move happened for Everett Butchers.
